SunLand is a premier golfing community located in the Pacific Northwest town of Sequim (pronounced Skwim), Washington. Here's what makes SunLand - Sequim a top retirement area choice:

On Money Magazine's list of top 20 USA retirement areas.

  Affordable golf, comfortable life style.

Unique weather - only about 18" of annual rainfall.

  Play golf all year long.

  Uncluttered, uncrowded and safe.

  Beautifully conditioned golf course.

Quiet, Peaceful and Uncrowded

The SunLand community has over 700 residences; the city of Sequim has a population of over 4,400, and there are more than 20,000 people living in the Sequim-Dungeness valley community. The crime rate is very low compared to other areas of the country.

Traffic is sparse most time, although summer months bring tourists seeking to enjoy the beauty and recreation on the Olympic Peninsula. A new Sequim bypass highway opened in 1999, and has resulted in a dramatic reduction in summer traffic through the downtown area.

SunLand - Away from it all yet convenient to much

SunLand Golf and Country Club is just 2 miles outside of Sequim, convenient to stores, supermarkets, restaurants and churches. Excellent medical care is found in Sequim and at the hospital in nearby Port Angeles, just 20 minutes away.

There is a year around schedule of area cultural events - symphony, theater and musical productions.

Seattle, (via a 25 minute picturesque ferry boat ride across Puget Sound) and Tacoma are just over 2 hours away, for shopping, cultural events, and college and professional sports. Beautiful Victoria, British Columbia is just a short ferry boat trip across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Port Angeles.

Media Commentary . . .

The following is an excerpt from an article concerning "retirement living" published in The Wall Street Journal of March 9, 2000, entitled "The Best Of Both Worlds".

"In a region best known for its soggy cloud cover, Sequim offers an oasis of light . . . . . . Sequim gets 18 inches, or about one third of the (annual) rainfall seen by the typical East Coast city. Situated in a valley carved by the torrential Dungeness River, the scenic community lies between the jagged Olympic Mountains and the salmon-filled waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca that leads to the Pacific Ocean. The sun, the mountains, the water, a plethora of services and programs for older adults - together they have turned unlikely Sequim into a serious force among United States retirement areas."
